OK, to be honest, there are some other things on my mind and going on in my world, but still, I am so close to finishing this freaking draft, and I've been letting it sit. So the right thing to do is press on and finish this thing out. At 66001 words, I think that I really have about another 3K or so left to finish out the first draft of the story, and then on rewrite, it will most likely expand out to 80 or 85K or so before contracting back to mid 70s. There's certainly some fluff in there, but two solid subplots that are only hinted at and otherwise completely missing. I've also started coming up with a serial idea for another book in the series with the same characters, but the more I think about it, the more it becomes a prequel rather than sequel. Perhaps that one gets written and revised next, though there is a weird out-of-my-element-and-conventions fantasy/sci-fi/horror type book that I have been thinking about writing. Maybe that one waits another year.
Still, I have been working on and off of the first draft here of White Rock for 9 months now, and it is seriously time to put it to sleep for a while. I have to finish. I am not sure what's driving me lately, but I really want to get this done. So we'll see. I've skipped poems for a while, and I've skipped a few other things. But I want to get this done, and I've started having so many ideas for a rewrite of Seven Doors, that it is pushing me to get this project out of the way first.
One thing at a time, one day at a time.
